A free Housing and Employment Service Fair for individuals re-entering our community after being incarcerated is scheduled for today from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Madison-Area Urban Ministry office, 2115 South Park Street. In addition to learning about housing and employment options, attendees can enjoy refreshments. The fair is sponsored by the Journey Home Program. Phone 256-0906 for information.
Interested in helping all eligible voters cast a ballot and having that vote count? You’re invited to assist the City Clerk’s Office with voter outreach efforts by attending a training session from 3 to 4:30 p.m. today at the Clerk’s office, 210 Martin Luther King Boulevard. You’ll learn how to accurately answer questions about voter ID, voter registration, absentee voting and the election process. Participants may also sign up to help the Clerk’s Office provide voter education at community events. Phone 266-4601 for information.
Channel 27 Meteorologist Bob Lindmeier will discuss the causes of climate change, climate change’s effects and what we can do about it from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Meadowridge Library, 5726 Raymond Road. Free and open to the public. For information, phone 288-6160.
A free public screening of the film “At the River I Stand” is scheduled for this evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Madison Central Library, 201 West Mifflin Street. The film chronicles the Civil Rights Movement’s climax: the two-month period in Memphis, Tennessee leading up to the tragic death of the Rev.
