It’s Today’s Action Calendar!

Tonight is a panel discussion on the topic: “How can Madison get better public art?” Arts reporter Lindsay Christians will moderate the panel, whose members are: Faisal Abdu’Allah, Creative Arts Community faculty director for UW-Madison’s Arts Institute; Mark Fraire, director of Dane Arts; Kelly Parks Snider, artist; and Karin Wolf, Madison Arts Program administrator. This free event is at 7pm at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, 227 State Street.

Tomorrow is a gallery talk at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art titled: “Form and Process in Talking Continents.” Gail Simpson will discuss Jaume Plensa’s use of opacity and transparency, how he materializes language, and the influ­ence of technology on his artistic process. This free event is tomorrow, February 22nd, from 1 to 1:30pm at the museum, 227 State Street.

Nonviolence Training Workshops will take place in Madison on March 16th and 17th. Applications are required and due February 25th; participants notified by March 5th. Workshop spaces are limited and will be hosted at the Pres House. Led by trainers from Eastpoint Peace Academy and based in Kingian Nonviolence philosophy, attendees will engage in conversations, practice role -plays and study current and historical movements.
