It’s This Weekend’s Action Calendar!
The Madison Fire Department is accepting applications for entry-level firefighters/EMTs. A firefighter recruitment open house is scheduled for this evening, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fire Station #14, 3201 Dairy Drive. Fire Department recruiters will be on hand to describe the hiring process and answer questions about a career with the Department. For more information, phone 513-3446.
Have you ever wondered about the history of your house? When it was built? What assessments, repairs, or building permits have been made or issued over time? A free home history workshop is scheduled from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 19th, at the Sequoya Library, 4340 Tokay Boulevard. Phone 266-6385 for information.
October is Polish American Heritage Month. In commemoration, the Polish Heritage Club of Madison will sponsor a free screening of the award-winning documentary film, “Irene Sendler: In the Name of their Mothers”, on Saturday, October 19th from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Alicia Ashman Library, 733 North High Point Road. The film tells the story of 29 year-old Irena Sendler who helped rescue over 2,500 Jewish children during World War Two. The film captures the character of the Polish women of the resistance.
