Celebrate our National Park Service’s centennial year with a virtual visit to Wisconsin’s own Apostle Islands National Lakeshore from 11 to noon on Saturday, November 12th at the Lakeview Library, 2845 North Sherman Avenue. The event will be hosted by John Frank, author of “Apostle Islands Water Trips – An Explorer’s Guide and Two Decades of Memories”, a guidebook and collection of kayak trip experiences around the Apostle Islands. On Sunday, November 13th, enjoy a free, family-friendly bird and nature hike at the Turville Point Conservation Park, 1156 Olin Turville Court. Turville Point is a natural peninsula on the west end of Lake Monona that offers spectacular shoreline views of sparkling water through shimmering autumn leaves. School Naturalist Emily Steinwehe will lead an easy hike on rolling trails and help you spot migratory birds, wildlife and plants getting ready for winter. No registration required.
