This is the Insurgent Radio Kiosk for Tuesday, December 13th
It’s today’s Action Calendar!
The public is invited to a free community forum to discuss a new report on the financial and human costs of “crimeless revocations” tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church, 1609 University Avenue. “Crimeless revocations” refers to the Wisconsin Department of Correction’s practice of revoking former inmates back into prison even though they have not been convicted of new crimes. A panel with extensive knowledge on how this practice affects our community will share their perspectives. The panel will be moderated by Jean Feraca, a veteran of public talk radio. For information, phone 608-445-9811.
Join a free WordPress Study Hall tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Library, 201 West Mifflin Street. Bring questions for working on your business website with WordPress, a free web hosting service. WordPress and marketing expert Matt Nelson from Grow Madison will steer you in the right direction. Please pre-register today by calling 608-266-6350.
Books to Prisoners is a non-profit organization sponsored by Rainbow Bookstore that sends books to prisoners in Wisconsin and other states. They accept donations. More details at 608-257-6050 or rainbowbookstore.coop.
The Respite Center is a safe place for kids, ages birth to fourteen, whose families are under stress or in crisis. They need volunteers to play with kids. Two or more hours a week would be fantastic and much appreciated. Training required. Call 608-244-5730 for details.
The Kiosk is available online at wortfm.org/kiosk.
Submit announcements at least ten days in advance of the event at wortfm.org/kioskannouncements.
