The Madison Police Department is hosting The Good Neighbor Night tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Department’s Training Facility, 5702 Femrite Drive. All are invited to attend the event to learn about successful neighborhood programs ranging from building community gardens and organizing clean-up days to planning block parties and other events that foster communication and personal contact. The Good Neighbor Night Project is also about partnering with the Madison Police Department to increase overall safety through community engagement and innovative problem solving. The Academy Award nominated Italian documentary “Fire at Sea”, will screen this evening at 7 p.m. at the Barrymore Theatre, 2090 Atwood Avenue. The film was shot on the Sicilian island of Lampedusa during the height of the European migrant crisis and powerfully contrasts the migrants’ dangerous Mediterranean crossing against the ordinary life of the islanders. The West Madison Senior Coalition will offer a free lunch for those 60 and over at noon on Thursday, April 27th, at the Meadowridge Library, 5726 Raymond Road. The suggested minimum donation is $4.00, but not required. Transportation to the meal is available with an additional $1.00 donation.
