The Grandparents’ Network provides a context for grandparents and family members to increase their understanding of developmental disabilities and contribute expertise, wisdom and experience. Join us for coffee and conversation at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, September 2nd, at the UW’s Waisman Center, 1500 Highland Avenue. Goodman Community Center will offer lunches to seniors tomorrow, Friday, September 2nd. Doors open at 10 a.m. to read the paper, play games, socialize and enjoy time with friends. 11:30 a.m. is the suggested arrival time for meals. Call 608-204-8032 for more information. Donations are appreciated, but not required.
Madison School and Recreation offers a variety of sports and recreational activities designed specifically for individuals with disabilities. Programs are offered at both eastside and westside facilities and include activities ranging from power soccer, goal ball, water walking, bowling, fishing and water skiing workshops. “In Nobody’s Pocket But Yours” says it all as the theme for WORT’s fall pledge drive starting Monday, September 19th. It’s your chance to support the station by pitching in to answer phones and connect with pledge donors. Volunteers are needed to cover 2 and 3 hour shifts in this vital and fun role.
