This is the Insurgent Radio Kiosk for Friday, September 2nd
It’s This Weekend’s Action Calendar!
Enjoy a free, family-friendly nature outing at the Cherokee Marsh, 6098 North Sherman Avenue, on Sunday, September 4th from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Walk leader Steve Lang is an avid nature photographer who lives next to Cherokee Marsh. Families and kids will love seeing some of Steve’s pictures of foxes and other wildlife and hearing stories about them. Steve will also share ideas for getting great pictures of birds and animals with a wildlife camera and with a regular camera. For details, call 608-698-0104.
Girls Inc., based at the Goodman Community Center, 149 Waubesa Street, encourages girls to master physical, intellectual and emotional challenges. Girls Inc. wants every girl to stand on her own two feet; to resist gender stereotypes and peer pressure. Participants take trips to fun and enriching places in the Madison area, performing community service, cooking, attending dance classes, biking, hiking, celebrating being girls, you name it!. Most meetings are during the week, but occasionally we plan fun weekend and evening events. To get involved, phone 608-241-1574.
Want to give yourself a better chance of surviving an emergency? The Dane County Disaster Assistance Voluntary Registry has been developed to identify individuals who may not be able to safely evacuate their homes in the event of a disaster. If you would need help leaving your home during a disaster or, due to impairment, need special notification about evacuation, please consider applying to be included on the Disaster Preparedness Registry. Phone 608-266-4330 for information.
