All are invited to a free workshop on Eating Smart and Being Active on Tuesday, May 23rd from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Goodman South Madison Library, 2222 South Park Street. You’ll get information on nutrition, food safety and spending your food dollars wisely. The workshop is presented through the University of Wisconsin Extension Food Wise Program.The workshop is targeted at households with children or grandchildren 18 years of age and under. Clean Sweep Hazardous Waste Site is open year-round at the county landfill and operates Tuesdays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 to 10:45 a.m. Clean Sweep will be closed Sundays, Mondays and Holidays. There is a fee per drop-off. Clean Sweep is located at 7102 US Highway 12 in Madison. More info at danecountycleansweep.com
Decluttering your home? The Literacy Network is collecting used books to re-sell to raise funds to support its classes and provide textbooks for free adult literacy programs. Donated books can be dropped off at the Literacy Network office, 701 Dane Street, preferably between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesdays. Contact 244-3911 for guidelines on the types of materials that can be accepted.
